Beauty In Metro
Amidst the scorching heat of the may sun and honking, smoky traffic I was waiting for my metro that I knew would come fully loaded with passengers of all shape and colours. All that heat and stench of crowd waiting at the stop was nauseating and making me dizzy. I took off my specs to dust them off and adjusted them on again and spotted my ride heading straight towards me. They all swarm into it hollering and squeezing from its door officially designed for a normal man to decently pass on and I, too, made my way inside. Relieved to find a seat beside the window I deposited myself with my backpack before anyone could. The journey started on full throttle. With nothing much left to do except waiting for my designation to arrive, which was still a good thirty five minutes away, I tried relaxing my back against the uncomfortable and stiff seat that was not letting me sit put. And so I kept shifting my position in order to ease my back every now and then until I noticed her sitting at the farthest end of the bus.
She was silhouetted behind the black netted veil. I made out her complexion to be ivory and peach on the cheeks, with prominent kholed and very intense looking eyes that were beauty within themselves. The lashes kept batting rhythmically quick as if they were tensed. She kept looking down on something in her hands which held something small enough to be invisible. Upon close inspection, I think it was a small booklet the size of her palms, perhaps, that she kept on opening and reading from and then closed her eyes to rest her head on the back of the seat. Something made me sure that now she must be smiling underneath that veil.
Time and again she kept on repeating such activity and I realized her tense frame was on its way towards relaxation and her heavy lashes, now batting slowly, were regaining their lost harmony until she faded in complete slumber....smiling.
When I saw her sleeping in peace, I thought of you.
I thought that sometime, someday, you are going to do something.
Something very nice.
I thought that you are going to write books.
Lots of them, making sure your books bring out the same expression of peace in others eyes and brings smile on others faces.
And I wish you my luck.

„I enjoyed reading the thoughts of the writer. The young girl is pictured beautifully. The vocabulary is quite sophisticated and I like the portrayal of the metro. It is so close to reality. The scene is very artistically created, and the very subtle mention of another love is quite skillfully done.
